COMPLETE ALL REQUIREMENTS
All media production + makerspace tools require certification before use.
- Each certification module is available in Canvas; click on the certification link below, log into Canvas with your CCID, and self-enroll in the tool's module.
- All users must complete the mandatory safety and policies module as a prerequisite before moving on to their intended equipment or studio module.
Users must achieve a grade of 100% on the final quiz to complete the module; multiple attempts are allowed.
- Upon successful completion of the certification module, users must book a certification practice session with DSC staff to complete the certification process.
- This practice session allows the user to demonstrate their knowledge of the equipment and provide an opportunity to ask staff any operational questions about the tool.
Certification Modules for Studio Space + Makerspace Tools
Studio Space
Audio Recording Booth
The recording booth features equipment to support sound capture. This soundproof room is ideal for recording voice-overs for video, podcasts and music.
Media Studio
Intended for the creation of video and photography projects, the space includes a backdrop, professional grade lighting, microphones, an object photography light box and a Mirrorless camera for still photography and video.
Makerspace Tools
Ultimaker 3D Printers
The Ultimaker 3D Printers are Fused Deposition Modeling (FDM) printers that print with melted plastic. Models are typically light, fast to print and durable. FDM models are less detailed than resin models.
FormLabs 2 Resin Printer
Certification is currently being updated.
SLA (stereolithography) is a 3D printing technology that uses a laser to cure liquid resin into hardened plastic. It is known for producing parts with high resolution, smooth surfaces, and fine details. SLA models are heavier and take a longer process to print.
Fabool Laser Mini
Certification is currently being updated.
The Fabool is a laser cutter/engraver. The machine cuts and engraves balsa, card stock and leather for small projects and prototypes.
Cricut Maker + Cricut Maker 4
Cricuts are electronic cutting machines used to cut a variety of materials like paper, vinyl, card stock, and even fabric for various projects.
Heat Press
Press designs made from heat press vinyl into garments and other textiles.
You must certify for the Cricut first before you can complete the heat press module.
