Study Space
There are 14 bookable study rooms in Weir Library. Room booking will be available soon through the Faculty of Law.
Borrowing Library Materials
Current University of Alberta student, faculty and staff can borrow Law Collection materials through self-service within the Weir space or place holds and pick up items at the library location of choice.
All other library patrons: To borrow Law library materials, you will first need to obtain a Public Borrower card from another campus library. This card can then be used to borrow materials through the self-service kiosk at Weir between the hours of 8:30 and 4:30pm. Please visit the Law Student Services Office on the main floor of the Law Centre to gain access to the library. Alternatively, you may prefer to place Weir Law library materials on hold for pickup at another campus library that maintains longer public hours. Please proceed to Rutherford Library for help with accessing online collections.
Course Materials for Law Classes are available for short term loans at Rutherford Library.
About John A. Weir Memorial Library
The Weir Library Collection has a strong research collection in primary and secondary materials from the common law Anglo-American jurisdictions online and in print. It consists largely of English language material with some French language material from Quebec.
Selected material are collected from the European Union and Pacific Rim countries. While the emphasis is on common law, civil law material is collected for Quebec, Scotland and Louisiana. The government documents collection of Canadian federal and provincial government documents includes parliamentary, legislative and departmental materials and administrative decisions.
