Sperber Library - Media Lab
Location: basement of the Geoffrey & Robyn Sperber Health Sciences Library (L1-148)
  Hours of operation: 
  Monday - Thursday: 12:30 pm - 5:30 pm. 
 Friday: 12:30 pm - 4:30 pm
The Lab requires a 24-hour notice for bookings and it is limited to a two-week booking window. If you'd like to book the Media Lab outside of these parameters, please contact sperberhelp@ualberta.ca for more information.
The Media Lab is fully equipped with state-of-the-art equipment for your audio and video recording needs. The equipment was generously donated by the Faculty of Medicine & Dentistry and you can record:
- Online instructional videos and lectures
 - Videos for recruitment, training, or other professional development sessions
 - Podcasts
 - Group interviews for coursework or research projects
 - Media interviews
 - Host a live stream
 - And more!
 
The Lab can accommodate 3-4 persons, ideally only 2 persons audio recording at the same time. The Lab includes:
- 2 Audio Technica AT4053b microphones
 - 1 Neewer F100 7" Camera Field monitor
 - 1 Mac Mini with two monitors
 - 1 Windows PCs with one monitors
 - 1 Elgato Facecam Pro webcam
 - 2 Aputure Light Dome ii light softbox and Aputure 300D ii lights
 - 2 Audio-Technica Headphones
 - Adjustable backdrops
 
No food or drink allowed in the Media Lab except for water in a sealed container.
Media Lab Policy
Bookable by the University of Alberta, faculty, staff, and students (CCID will be required) for academic, non-commercial activities.  
Public members may book the space on a case-by-case basis. Please contact sperberhelp@ualberta.ca for more information.
- 2 hour maximum bookings per person during Media Lab hours
 - Maximum occupancy – 4 people
 - No food or drink in the Media Lab except for water in a sealed container.
 - Equipment is the responsibility of the user and cannot be removed from the room
 - Occupants must ensure the room remains clean and tidy
 
The Media Lab is used primarily for recording sessions. If you wish to edit your project, you can book a high-performance computer station in the Digital Scholarship Centre (DSC). For other media production needs, visit the DSC!
